Q:I am using a non-Prototek receiver and I am not getting the depth that you advertise on your website. What is the deal?
A: The depth posted on our website is calculated using Prototek receivers. We can’t guarantee what you will get with non-Prototek equipment.

Q: Will the FTP-8 work in cast iron?
A: Yes

Q: Can I use the flushable transmitters on the end of a sewer machine or push rod?
A: We do not recommend it. Using the flushable transmitters in this way will void any warranty and possibly cause damage to the transmitter. We do recommend the same 512 Hz frequency DuraSonde transmitters along with a spring carrier for this type of use.

Q: Do the flushable transmitters float?
A: Yes.

Q: What receiver do you recommend for use with the FTP-8’s?
A: Prototek’s Linefinder 2000 or 2200 or any other 512 Hz Receiver, including Prototek’s affordable Ferris Analog Receiver.

Q: How do I calculate depth?
A: To calculate depth you will take the distance between your front and back nulls and then multiple by .7. An example would be if you measured 50 inches between your front and back nulls then you would multiply 50 x .7 = 35 inches.

Q: Do the flushable transmitters fit in a spring carrier?
A: No. However, Prototek’s FD-10 and FD-20 DuraSondes fit in all of our spring carriers.

Prototek’s Blue FTP-8 512 Hertz Flushable Transmitter is the Gold Medal Standard for flushable sonde transmitters for cast iron pipe and septic locating .

First off, you must have a 512 Hertz receiver to use these transmitters as they will not work with an AM/FM radio or with an app on your Smartphone device. These flushable transmitters are perfect for locating Cast Iron Septic Tanks and in addition to an affordable price, these little blue magic pills have a four hour battery lifespan and can float. Therefore, you could easily retrieve the transmitter, and after a quick yet thorough cleaning, use each transmitter at least three more times. Remember to test the transmitter with your reciever just before flushing.

While we here at Prototek recommend using the Ferris FR-1 Receiver or either of our LineFinders, the LF-1 or the LF-3, these amazing little blue transmitters will be able to work with any 512Hz Receiver, whether it is a Made in America Prototek Ferris Receiver, one of our LineFinders (Also Made in America!) or an off brand 512 Hertz Receiver. The FTP-8 512 Hz Flushable Transmitter is perfect for a Do It Yourselfer’s small project around the house or for a Septic and Sewer Company looking to Pump in the Profits and Dump out the Competition.

This 512Hz flushable transmitter is best for Cast Iron Pipes and Septic Tanks and has about an 8 foot range. Prototek does have an 15 foot ranged flushable transmitter but it will not work in cast iron environments and you’ll need to have a multi frequency receiver that has an 8kz setting, like Prototek’s LF-3 .

Remember, you must have a 512 Hertz Receiver to use this Blue 512 Hertz Flushable Transmitter. We’ve got three.
